The exterior of the new 2017 GLS is a combination of powerful angles and finely honed details. The new larger grille features the familiar three-point star between two horizontal bars, in a unique adaptation of classic Mercedes-Benz styling. Side body contours are similarly angular, and add to the chiseled and powerful appearance of the GLS. Also new are the styles of alloy wheels available, in sizes that range from 19 to 22 inches. The GLS550 adds flared wheel arches for a more muscular look, while the AMG GLS63 gets a special body trim kit and available illuminated running boards. All GLS models receive full LED lighting all around, including the redesigned adaptive headlamps.
Interior
Along with its new name and new outward appearance, the new 2017 GLS-Class receives an updated and hand-fitted interior that exceeds all expectations. This impeccably-designed cabin space is pure luxury from whichever seat you’re viewing it. Performance
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class is offered in four different models, based upon engine size. The GLS350d is the 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel option that delivers 255-horsepower and an astonishing 455 lb-ft of torque. Next up is the GLS450, powered by a 3.0-liter V6 biturbo, putting out 362-horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The powerful GLS550 comes with an advanced 4.7-liter biturbo V8 that delivers a full 449-horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. But the real monster of the lineup is the AMG GLS63, which employs a 5.5-liter V8 biturbo to make 577-horsepower and 561 lb-ft of torque. All of these powerful engines are paired with a new 9-speed 9G-TRONIC® automatic transmission with paddle shifters. All GLS-Class SUVs also come with 4MATIC 4-wheel drive standard.
